The three week summer course provides 60 hours of English lessons with fully qualified English teachers, with English as their mother tongue, to ensure the greatest improvement in your child’s language skills.

We accept all levels of English on our summer course, from Beginners to Advanced. Students are taught in small classes of typically 8-10 per class, grouped according to their age, and proficiency in English.

Teachers use a range of methods to challenge students to expand their understanding and improve their fluency, including; role play, listening games, interviews and talks. Students have the opportunity to develop their public speaking skills by giving presentations to the rest of the school in our morning assemblies.

Our aim is to improve your child’s language skills while also sparking their curiosity to learn about a whole range of fun and exciting subjects, with something of interest to everyone. This is known as the CLIL (content integrated) teaching approach. For example, students study the relevant History topics in their classes preceding each historical excursion, they may study Geography topics such as Renewable Energy and the Environment including a visit to Highfield’s renewable energy installations.

All students have a Science lesson each week with our Highfield Head of Science and have the opportunity to conduct practical Science experiments in our fully equipped Science laboratories.

Team Sports are a major part of English boarding school life. Throughout the year boys play sports such as Football, Rugby and Cricket, while girls play Netball, Lacrosse and Rounders. Hockey, Swimming and Tennis are enjoyed by both.

To incorporate the excitement of team sports in the boarding school summer camp, each week the students experience a week-long introductory course in a different English school sport. The aim is to make each sport fun and engaging for all ages and abilities. We only use qualified sports coaches to deliver our sports programme, ensuring your child is taught safely and receives high quality skills training. Coaches also encourage children to develop ‘skills for life’; building confidence and instilling the value of team work.

The staff at Highfield are kind and friendly. They are are committed to creating the ideal home-from-home environment for your child to help them settle easily and start enjoying the course quickly. Parents have a dedicated person to contact should they have any questions or concerns so that these can be dealt with promptly.
