Any questions?
How many children attend Highfield Summer School?
Our Summer School is a small, high quality course with typically around 45 international students, from 11 different nationalities. We have a strict admissions policy to ensure that there are not too many of one nationality, and that children are immersed in English at all times.
Where will my child sleep?
Our newly refurbished boarding accommodation is warm and homely, and located on the upper floors of the school building. There are separate sections for boys and girls, and children sleep in dorms with between 4 – 6 beds. The boarding staff also have bedrooms near the dormitories so there is always someone nearby if needed to ensure children feel happy, safe and cared for. A regular laundry service is provided by the Matron.

What is the food like at Highfield?
Food at our school is very important – just ask the children! We have a fantastic team of enthusiastic and dedicated chefs who provide the children with a varied choice of delicious, nutritious and well-balanced meals, cooked on the premises using the healthiest cooking methods. We are are very proud of our 5 stars awarded from the Food Standards Agency for environmental health.
Summer School students enjoy a choice of breakfasts (including an English cooked breakfast!) a three course lunch, and a hot supper in the evening. There are also home-made snacks available at breaktimes throughout the day.

What health care facilities are there at Highfield?
Highfield has a fully equipped Health Centre with a comfortable rest area, bathroom facilities, and plenty of space for private consultations. Our qualified and experienced Course Nurse will be the first point of call for any child that feels unwell, and with a Doctor’s Surgery, Minor Injuries Clinic and two major hospitals nearby, medical care is readily available if needed.
As a boarding school, Highfield has been operating throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. We have established procedures in place for keeping children safe, and invaluable experience of managing with Covid, which means you can rest assured that your child will be in safe hands. Our Nurse is also able to perform an on site Covid Test should this be required.
How can I contact my child during the Summer School?
Children are able to call home regularly and make video calls via Facetime, WhatsApp or Skype etc. using their own mobile phones, or our school ipads. However, due to the age of children on our course, mobile phones and other devices are stored safely away, and students are only allowed to use their mobiles during supervised phone times, or on excursions off site. This is an important part of our Safeguarding Policy to keep children safe during their stay with us, and to make sure that they actively engage, make new friends, and get the most out of everything the course has to offer.
