Together we experience

Immersion Courses at Highfield and Brookham

Experience real British boarding school life

Our two-week immersion programme offers international children a unique opportunity to step into the everyday life of a traditional British boarding school. Designed for those who want more than a typical language course, this is a fully integrated experience where learning happens naturally, both inside and outside the classroom.

This is not a summer camp. From the moment they arrive, your child will be welcomed into our school community, joining lessons, activities and routines alongside our full-time pupils. They are not visitors, but a fully-integrated part of the school.

Through this complete immersion, children do far more than study English. They live and breathe it, building confidence, fluency and friendships in an authentic and supportive environment.

Highfield and Brookham is very special to us. Thanks to the warm, experienced and passionate teachers, my daughter is very confident, and has gone on to flourish at her senior school.

Practical information

Our immersion courses are designed for children aged 9 to 13 who are ready to embrace life in a British boarding school. Pupils should have a good enough level of English to follow classroom teaching and participate with confidence. Most importantly, we are looking for children with a spirit of curiosity, those who are eager to try new things, build friendships and make the most of every moment.

Course Dates

Our two-week immersion experiences run at key points throughout the academic year:

Sunday 20 September – Friday 2 October 2026

Sunday 31 January – Friday 12 February 2027

Sunday 13 June – Friday 25 June 2027

Full English immersion

Your child joins real lessons with British pupils across the full curriculum, including:

  • Drama, Music, Art and Design Technology
  • Maths, English and Science
  • Games, PE and sports fixtures

Children gain natural fluency in the English language by hearing and speaking English all day. Each pupil is given a boarding buddy, a friendly British child who helps them throughout the school day and evening.

My son joined in Year 7 from another continent, the team helped him to become an integral part, not only of the school but of the country. Highfield and Brookham has been the best experience for him.

A true British boarding experience

Your child becomes part of our warm, supportive boarding community. Up to 130 children live in the Boarding House. There are 22 dorms across the boys and girls wings. All the children benefit from 24-hour care from our experienced boarding team, including our friendly matrons who help with daily life such as uniforms.

Evenings include activities such as cookery, bushcraft, sports, crafts, games and discos. We are a phone-free school, helping children to stay present and confident but international pupils make video calls home via our safe checkout system each evening.

An excellent curriculum and an imaginative approach which engages and motivates pupils of all ages.

Delicious British Food

Your child will enjoy a full range of freshly-cooked meals.

  • Hot breakfast buffet with fresh fruit and pastries
  • Morning and afternoon snacks for energy
  • A delicious choice of hot and cold lunch options suitable for various dietary needs
  • Home-cooked evening meals shared with friends and staff
  • A favourite with our boarders is toast and milk before bed which ensure that everyone goes to bed with a full tummy.
