Junior Boarding House Parents

Are you passionate about boarding education and the pastoral care of young people? If so, Highfield and Brookham School is offering a superb opportunity. We are seeking to appoint House Parents to lead our Junior Boarding House from September 2024. You will be responsible for the welfare and pastoral care of approximately 15 boarding boys and girls in Year 3 to Year 5.

The role/s of Junior House Parent will be combined with teaching, so the successful candidate/s will be qualified to teach. Suitable timetable remission will be provided.

The successful candidates should have experience of working in a boarding environment and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Our philosophy for boarding is to create an environment that is happy, welcoming and that ever-important home away from home for our youngest boarders.

Our Junior Boarding House sits apart from the Senior Boarding accommodation. There is the option to board for a minimum of 2 nights across the week right up to fully boarding including weekends. An Assistant House Parent will work alongside the Junior House Parents. Boarding at Highfield and Brookham continues to be robust, accommodating up to 130 boarders across the Junior and Senior Boarding houses.

PE and Games Teacher

We are seeking a passionate and experienced PE and Games Teacher to join our dynamic team at Highfield and Brookham School. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical education, a genuine enthusiasm for teaching, and the ability to inspire and motivate young learners. Mathematics Teacher

We seek to appoint an exceptionally high-calibre maths teacher with superb subject knowledge to stimulate, inspire and challenge our high-achieving pupils. We welcome applicants for this post to take up the position in September 2024.

The successful candidate should have a warm, friendly and supportive teaching style to nurture the pupils’ interest in mathematics. We are a successful team looking for someone who can work collaboratively, helping us strive to continue to improve our already outstanding teaching, generating new ideas and initiatives to benefit our pupils. The successful candidate would be expected to teach mathematics to 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance and Scholarship level. Pupils take the ISEB Common Entrance, with the top sets either taking an Academic Scholarship or Additional Level 3 Common Entrance paper. This is a six day a week teaching role with half a day off in lieu.

Nursery Assistant

Our nursery is a special place.  Our team of dedicated staff are caring and nurturing, with a clear understanding of child development and how to support every child as an individual on their educational journey.  We embrace outdoor learning and children can be found outside, no matter what the weather.  We constantly reflect on our practice and we keep up to date with the latest research relating to Early Years Education.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, flexible and committed individual to join our team and support us in our mission to provide our Nursery children with the very best start to their educational journey. You will assist the teacher with the day-to-day running of provision; ensuring the children’s happiness, general welfare and safety are maintained to the highest standard. You will assist with the planning, preparation and delivery of activities devised to meet children’s developmental needs and observe children and record these observations using the school’s tracking documents and systems.

  • A commitment to providing excellent Early Years education.

1:1 Learning Support Assistants

We are looking for a number of Learning Support Assistants to provide 1:1 support for pupils. We have both full-time and part-time roles available. The ideal candidates will be professional, conscientious and have a caring disposition. They will be adaptable and flexible and have the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Experience of working with pupils with special educational needs is desirable, but not essential. You will be supported by a strong team and will be provided with morning and afternoon refreshments and lunch during term-time.

Evening Cleaner

We are looking for an Evening Cleaner to join the team who carry out general cleaning duties. Working hours are 4.30pm to 9.00pm Monday to Friday with some Saturday work on a rota basis. Benefits include company pension scheme, company sick pay scheme, life insurance and delicious free meal (breakfast/supper). This role continues throughout the school holidays. Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will be reliable and conscientious, with a good work ethic.

Catering Roles

We are currently recruiting for several roles within our fabulous in-house catering team which provides freshly prepared nutritious meals for children and staff.

Kitchen Porter / Washing up person – Term-time only, Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 4.00 pm and Saturday 8.00 am – 3.30 pm, (working approximately 20 Saturdays per year)

Experienced Chef – Term time plus some holiday work (approximately 36-38 weeks per year), Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 8.00 am – 4.30 pm, Saturday 8.00am – 3.30pm & Sunday 9.00 am – 6.30 pm, (working approximately 20 weekends per year)

Swim Teacher

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and friendly swim teacher to join our popular and highly regarded Swim School, offering swimming lessons to children aged 4yrs and above in our warm 20m pool.

Candidates must be qualified to either Swim England SEQ Level 2 or STA Level 2 Certificate and have experience of teaching all abilities, from beginners to advanced swimmers. Candidates must be prepared to teach in the water as well as out of the water.

The hours available are as follows, however if you can only do some of these hours, we would still like to hear from you.

Friday 3:45pm – 7pm

Saturday 8:00am – 12:45pm
