Holiday Courses

We like to offer a wide variety of courses each year in which children leave having learnt a new skill or sport, improved their skills or have a tangible memento to take home to show and enjoy with their families. For sporty children, we have tennis, swimming and multi-sports and for those children with a more creative streak, we offer terrific courses such as cookery, photography and science. And for those who like a bit of everything, our multi-activities course does exactly what it says on the tin!

Coaching and Facilities

All of our coaches and course tutors have vast experience and are fully qualified in their respective fields. They are passionate about passing on their expertise, which leads to hugely beneficial, valuable and ultimately engaging courses.

The extensive facilities we have available at Highfield and Brookham enable us to offer a great variety of courses to suit all children. These courses vary in length from one day of fun and creativity to two to four days for those who really want to get stuck in.

Archery and fencing

6-13yrs | 8th April | 9:30am – 12:30pm | £60

Our combined archery and fencing course brings these two exciting sports to life in a fun and engaging way.

The first half of the morning will focus on archery. The passionate and experienced instructors will engage the children in fun and interactive activities designed to enhance hand-eye coordination, focus and discipline as well as introduce the key skills of stance, aim, form and technique.

As the course suits a variety of ages, the equipment will be suited to each child’s age and ability. Younger children will use smaller bows, foam targets and lightweight arrows and older/more experienced children will have the opportunity to use recurve bows and arrows and aim at full-size targets.

Safety is of course paramount and the instructors will emphasize the importance of following protocols and proper handling of equipment and ensure children are safe at all times.

In the second half of the morning, children will embark on an exciting journey into the dynamic sport of fencing. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, they will learn the art of parrying and thrusting whilst enjoying fun duels against one another.

As with archery, safety is vital, so children will wear full headgear, along with padded chest protectors. The foils provided are made of lightweight plastic, featuring a ball on the end which allows for realistic engagement. All this means they can fully embrace the fencing experience.

We hope that by the end of the course, children will have developed a keen interest in one or both of these sports and be motivated to use their new found skills and knowledge to continue their journey further.

In addition to the practical and theory elements of the course, the Divecrew team will also educate about the importance of marine conservation – a topic that they are passionate about.
