Highfield and Brookham is an independent Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep School in Liphook for boys and girls aged 2-13, nestled on the leafy borders of Hampshire, West Sussex and Surrey.
As a family-owned school, we celebrate our genuine independence and prepare children for the leading boarding and top day schools in the country. Not being answerable to a senior school or trust results in a strong sense of togetherness and a welcoming family feel. We work together with our children and their families to ensure the children receive the very best education possible. Our curriculum is rich and varied, providing balanced opportunities across a wide spectrum of extra-curricular, outdoor and outreach programmes.

We have a flawless record of securing entrance to a child’s chosen senior school, whether at 11+ or 13+. Our curriculum gives opportunities for all children to flourish and our scholarship success is evidence of our outstanding academic ambition. Our children have been awarded over 100 scholarships over the past six years to a diverse range of top senior schools, including Wellington College, Cranleigh School, Radley College, Marlborough College and Charterhouse and include a huge variety of scholarships ranging from academic and art to sports and music.

Situated in 175 acres of glorious natural grounds in the South Downs National Park, on the borders of Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire, our beautiful estate provides not only a stunning backdrop for our Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep, but importantly is a wonderful place for learning. There is never a shortage of willing volunteers when it comes to making something tasty in the nursery kitchen. Today, the budding chefs – with a little help from the adults – turned their little hands to banana cake, mixing mashed ripe bananas, flour, sugar, eggs and oil before the mixture was put into the oven. Tenacious Year 7 pupils have today had their grey matter put firmly to the test in maths after being challenged to simplify algebraic fractions using cancellation. Facing a series of tricky problems set by Mr Parkinson, our Head of Maths, the children demonstrated real aptitude for their subject as they worked in pairs to successfully unlock the answers by dividing the numerators and denominators of fractions by a common factor. There’s nothing like fresh air and the great outdoors to fuel vitality and imagination. But don’t take our word for it, ask our pre-prep children. To demonstrate how curves play an important role in strengthening structures when it comes to design, Year 4 children took on the egg challenge during DT. The children tried with all their might to crush the egg while holding it firmly top and bottom. Wednesdays and Saturdays are traditionally our big days for external sports fixtures and today has been another wonderful advert for prep school sport. Young pre-prep performers have today been put through their paces during Theatre Club, a popular extra-curricular club run by Mrs Wilson, who has regularly trodden the boards in the West End. Hot on the heels of our phenomenal springtime @lamdadrama success, we’ve secured another superb set of results, this time in the December exams. Thirty-one children secured an amazing 86% Distinction rate, with Max R and Clementine S gaining an incredible score of 96% for their Entry Level Verse and Prose exams while Iona D achieved 94% for her Grade 4 Acting exam. Year 3 have today been treated to a tantalising glimpse into the fascinating world of the Ancient Mayans, the subject of their new history topic. Absorbed in a One Day Creative Education drama workshop rich in role play and imagination, the children learnt about the appearance of the Mayan people, the different elements that made up their society (such as queens, warriors and traders) and the role of the humble cocoa bean. There was a real buzz around the Year 1 classrooms today as the children dug a little deeper into their special spring term topic. The inquisitive children have been asking the question ‘why are bees so brilliant?’ Today, they welcomed into school expert beekeeper Michelle Ernoult, who gave the children a fascinating insight into the lives of our crucial and busy pollinators. They say all good things must come to an end, and that’s the case for our beautiful Christmas tree which has taken pride of place in the prep school car park for the past few weeks. And this was wonderfully demonstrated by Year 6 pupil Ottalie M, who earned the Art Effort of the Month award for December with this watercolour painting inspired by the book Future Hopes.
