Saturday Sports Skills

Saturday Sports Skills

Saturday Sports Skills is our new multi sports skills club for children in school years 1 to 3. The club will provide an introduction to a variety of different sports skills with the focus very much on having fun while developing key skills and nurturing a lifelong passion for sport. All children are welcome.

Our Approach

Taking part in sport helps children in so many ways, both physically and mentally; building confidence and resilience, learning teamwork and respect for others, building new friendships and learning essential life skills.

Our approach will encourage healthy competition so that your child will flourish in a safe, encouraging and fun environment.

Over the course of the year, your child will enjoy an introduction to different sports including: hockey, football, netball, tag rugby, athletics and cricket.

Our programme runs on a termly basis with three x 10-week terms each year. Each term will focus on two different sports and the fundamental skills required to play them.

We hope that by the time your child finishes their journey with us, they will have developed a real interest in sport which they can take further by joining a club and continue to develop their potential.

Our Facilities

Saturday Sports Skills sessions will use our fantastic facilities at Highfield and Brookham Schools in Liphook, Hampshire. These include an all-weather astro pitch, tennis courts, cricket pitches, athletics fields, sports hall and plenty more. Sessions will move to our indoor facilities in bad weather.

Our fantastic team of coaches who all work at Highfield and Brookham Schools have years of experience teaching sport to children and are hugely passionate about building children’s enjoyment of sport.

The Sessions

Our sessions will keep children engaged in sport with a variety of sport and activities and a typical session will include:

5-6 year olds will enjoy lots of fun games and exercises to help develop the core fundamental skills such as balance, co-ordination, movement and control. Groups will be kept small to ensure focussed, tailored attention.

7-8 year olds will work on fundamental development skills, with more specific sports skills so they develop the essential skills required to play each sport. All children will put all they have learnt into practice by playing mini matches at end of term.
